Weight loss surgery places available at an out of pocket expense $3900.
The surgical fee covers the primary operation and any subsequent secondary operation required by this practice to correct any subcutaneous reservoir port problems (which ocurs rarely and private health insurance is maintained). It also entitles the patient to life long reduced fees for surgical follow up and band adjustments which are Medicare rebatable. This is the Long Term Follow Up Program.
Tax Rebate Scheme
Please keep our tax invoices for out of pocket expenses and submit with your tax return for the financial year for possible further rebates. Further details can be found on the Australian Taxation Office website.
Not Privately Insured?
Without private health insurance a gastric band can cost approximately $12,000 - $15,000. (Hospital fees and out of pocket fees).
At Greater Eastern Obesity Surgery we highly encourage uninsured patients to take out private insurance. Although you will need to wait 12 months to be covered by your policy, we recommend that you have a consultation several months prior to completing the waiting period. At the consultation, you will have a better understanding of the process and weight loss will start with the use of our support program immediately. We recommend patients continue their insurance for at least 3 years after surgery.
